Since 2019, the pandemic restrictions made the online shopping the only way to satisfy end customer’s demands. Even though the covid mess is in the past and more and more countries are lifting all the restrictions and opening their borders to outsiders. One thing has remained the same and that is Ecommerce as it is still the only and primary way for consumers to purchase anything. According to the Shopify report , in 2022 the worldwide Ecommerce sales are USD 5.4 billion and it will grow up to USD 5.9 billion. In other words, Covid might be finished completely in the future but Ecommerce trend is here to stay forever. In simple words, the Future of Ecommerce Industry looks good.

Mobile commerce will be on edge

Mobile Commerce gives the end user a convenient approach and lightning-fast shopping experience. In 2023, Ecommerce Retailers will try to set up new brands and stores and boost the existing ones with pre-integrated tools for rapid application development. The retailers will focus on applying Composable Commerce rules that is decoupling frontend functionality from the backend. In the Ecommerce Industry, there are many software companies that work on this principle like Shopify, Magento, BigCommerce (backend side) and Shogun, Spartacus etc. (frontend one).

Progressive Web App (PWA)

In 2023, Progressive Web App (PWA) technology will rule the Ecommerce industry because it has multi-platform and native nature. Ecommerce Retailers strive to reduce their costs by receiving more benefits from Progressive Web App (PWA) as PWA seems to be one of the ways to kill two birds with one stone.

The technology race will continue

In a very competitive Ecommerce industry, all the retailers are trying heir best to provide vast services smoothly. It is exciting for the end customer to try new ways of shopping, including the voice one, live streaming eCommerce, AR/VR, etc. To ensure the smooth shopping experience like live streaming etc, the companies must make sure uninterrupted connection, high speed & latency, and real-time data transfer.
The latest 5G will be used for this purpose, making the technology available to Ecommerce customers all around the world. Moreover, Ecommerce industry will build well-designed processes, and run enterprises worldwide by using 5G.
The IOT Technology is an important part of Ecommerce shopping experience. This technology connected 14.4 billion devices in 2022.  It helps in business set up processes like inventory management, logistics, etc. These IOT devices also ensure seamless communication with customers.

AR/VR

Last but not least, AR/VR is the technology that will be popular in 2023. To market this shopping experience many famous ecommerce brands will partner with social media platforms offering to publicise this AR/VR shopping experience. So, get ready to use more such apps and experience this unique shopping technology. In simple words AR/VR allows you to eliminate the leading blocker of ecommerce that is to see something with your own eyes and try it as you usually do in brick-and-mortar stores.

Voice Shopping

In 2023 another trend that e-commerce industry will follow is Voice shopping. Following Statista, “the total value of voice activated shopping might grow from around USD 5 billion in 2021 to a shocking USD 19.4 billion in 2023”. Voice shopping increases the speed and performance of routine tasks. As a result, the end customer prefers voice shopping more as compared to a regular shopping. Amazon has already launched it’s Voice shopping experience in its Alexa device. Alexa makes it easier for end customers to add and remove products from their shopping lists using voice commands. Alexa processes these orders and send them to the customers selected store. The customer can either go and pick it up or use the delivery service. Other retailers like Alibaba and Walmart also released the same services. In 2023, this trend will become mainstream in e-commerce industry. Therefore, for future success, e-commerce brands should create robust and highly scalable cloud services. So that they can provide voice shipping to their customers and ensure high speed and performance of routine tasks for their customers.

All in all, the future of ecommerce industry is very bright. With 5G and latest shopping experience technologies like AR/VR and voice shopping the end user will get a convenient approach and lightning-fast shopping experience. Implementations of such innovations will lead to the entire digital transformation of the e-commerce industry.
